I can't stop being irritated about this so I feel like the only thing I can do to make myself feel a little better is to just get it out.
A couple of months ago I heard about a book who's title and author name I'm not going to share. I've never read anything by this author, but apparently she's pretty popular in the thriller genre. I can't remember how I came across the book, but I can not forget what caught my attention about it: the story is centered around capturing a serial killer...who happens to be the daughter of the infamous american serial killer Ted Bundy.
Ted Bundy in this book is obviously none other than THE serial killer Ted Bundy. That much is stated. So here's what's bothering me: The daughter of Ted Bundy is not just a fictional character. She's a real person. Ted Bundy had a daughter. She was born while he was in prison and was 6 years old when his death sentence was carried out. I find it disgusting that someone would think of writing about and profiting from something like this about a real person. It makes me sad and I find it extremely disrespectful to add insult to injury by writing a book insinuating that she would be a serial killer.
His victims weren't just the innocent women and girls that he killed, but his family and friends as well. They weren't responsible for his actions, and it genuinely upsets me when people are insinsitive enough to profit off of someone elses tragedy like this. It would be different if she were just an imaginary character in a book...but she's not.
There. I'm done. I just needed to get that out.
